Pitlochry is in a rain shadow east of the Highlands and is generally easier than the west coast. But the riverside paths along the Tummel, the woodland around the dam, and the warm still evenings that Perthshire does so well can still produce localised midge activity.
It's rarely as intense as Glencoe or Skye, but 'less intense' is not the same as 'none'.
